Description
Madewell’s Perfect Wide Leg is the cleanest, most dress-code-safe wide leg in the category — the one you can wear to a business-casual office, to dinner at your in-laws’, and then on a weekend without changing the read. Front rise is about 11.5″, leg opening is a measured 20-21″, and the inseam runs 30-31″ regular with 32-33″ tall. At 5’7″ and a size 28, I bought the regular and they hit the floor with a perfect quarter-inch of drape in flats.
The denim is premium — real Japanese-mill cotton with a touch of recovery, heavier than mass-market wide legs, with topstitching that reads expensive. After ten-plus washes mine has barely moved; the waist hasn’t stretched, the knees haven’t bagged, and the wash has held. Honest negative: $118 is a real spend, and the silhouette is conservative enough that if you want a statement jean, this won’t be it. It’s the quietly-excellent wide leg, not the viral one.
Why we recommend it: The dress-code-safe wide leg. Premium denim, measured proportions, the pair you’ll reach for on your most important days.
