I am 5’2″, 120 pounds, size 4/27, and I have spent the past eight weeks testing three Paige petite jean styles. At $180 to $250 per pair, Paige sits firmly in premium territory, and petite shoppers deserve to know whether that price translates into genuinely better proportional design or just nicer fabric on the same basic pattern. Paige petite sizing: how it compares to regular
Paige petite jeans shorten the inseam by 2 to 2.5 inches compared to their regular line and adjust the rise by about half an inch. The petite inseams I measured across the three styles were 27 inches (Hoxton), 27 inches (Cindy), and 26 inches (Anessa). These are reasonable for the 5’3″ to 5’4″ petite range but slightly long for my 5’2″ frame.
On waist sizing, all three pairs ran about half a size small. I ordered my usual 27, and the flat waist measured 26.5 inches across all three. This is not unusual for premium denim brands that use higher cotton percentages, but it is worth knowing. I would have been more comfortable in a 28. If you are between sizes in Paige, go up.
The most important difference I noticed between Paige petite and regular was the knee placement. On all three petite styles, the knee articulation (the slight pre-formed bend in the fabric) hit within an inch of my actual knee. On regular Paige jeans I have tried on in stores, that articulation sits about two inches too low. This tells me Paige genuinely grades their petite patterns, not just shortening the hem.
Hoxton Ultra Skinny Petite: the daily wear pick
Rise: 10 inches. Inseam: 27 inches. Leg opening: 9.5 inches. The Hoxton is Paige’s signature skinny, and the petite version uses their Transcend fabric (54% rayon, 23% cotton, 22% polyester, 1% elastane). This fabric is famous for its buttery softness, and it delivers. These are the most comfortable skinny jeans I have ever put on. Zero break-in period. Soft from the first wear.
The fit hugged through the hip and thigh without the sausage-casing feeling that cheaper skinny jeans create. The 10-inch rise sat at my natural waist and stayed there with no rolling. The 27-inch inseam was about half an inch long for my frame, creating a slight scrunch at the ankle rather than a clean hit. With ankle boots it disappeared; with sneakers I had a small cuff.
After eight weeks of heavy rotation (three to four times per week) and seven washes, the Hoxton held up exceptionally well. No pilling, no thinning at the thighs, no significant color loss on the dark wash. The stretch recovery was outstanding. Every morning after a wash, they fit exactly like they did on day one. Cindy Straight Petite: the elevated casual
Rise: 11 inches. Inseam: 27 inches. Leg opening: 14.5 inches. The Cindy is a relaxed straight-leg that Paige positions as their “cool girl” jean. The petite version uses a heavier fabric than the Hoxton (92% cotton, 6% polyester, 2% elastane), which gives it more structure and a stiffer hand feel. It took about three wears to break in to a comfortable level.
On my frame, the 11-inch rise sat slightly above my natural waist, which created a nice long-leg effect without hitting my ribcage. The straight leg was relaxed without being baggy, giving me about 1.5 inches of ease through the thigh. This is the silhouette I would recommend for petite women who want to move away from skinny jeans without going full wide leg. The proportions read as intentionally relaxed rather than accidentally oversized.
The 27-inch inseam was, again, slightly long for my frame. With loafers, the hem broke once and sat neatly. With flat sneakers, I needed a small cuff. The stiffer fabric held the straight-leg shape all day with no knee bagging, which is a common issue with lighter-weight straight-leg jeans. After five washes, the indigo wash lightened about a quarter shade but stayed even, with no streaking or patchiness.
Anessa Wide Leg Petite: the statement piece
Rise: 12 inches. Inseam: 26 inches. Leg opening: 22 inches. The Anessa is Paige’s widest petite silhouette, and the shorter 26-inch inseam reflects the brand’s understanding that wide legs need to be shorter on petite frames to avoid floor-dragging. The 12-inch rise was too tall for my short torso, which is consistent with my experience across brands. It sat at my lower ribcage and pressed uncomfortably when seated. Standing, the silhouette was dramatic and flattering, with the wide leg creating a long vertical line from hip to hem. But the comfort trade-off of the ultra-high rise limited how often I reached for these. With a 10.5 or 11-inch rise, this would have been my favorite pair of the three.
Is Paige worth the premium for petite?
Paige petite jeans cost roughly twice what you would pay for Levi’s or Madewell petite. The question is whether you get twice the value. In fabric quality and stretch recovery, yes. The Transcend fabric on the Hoxton is in a different league from anything I have tested under $100. In proportional design, Paige is above average but not flawless. The knee placement is correct, the inseams are reasonable, but the rise on the Anessa is too tall for shorter petites and the half-size-small waist sizing means you are likely paying return shipping to get the right size. The honest negative
The petite selection from Paige is disappointingly narrow. As of this review, they offer four or five styles in petite, compared to fifteen-plus in regular. The washes are also limited: mostly dark indigo and black. If you want a light wash, a distressed finish, or a colored denim in petite from Paige, you are out of luck. At $200 per pair, the expectation is a full range of options, and Paige does not deliver that for petite shoppers. The other issue is the initial stiffness on their cotton-heavy styles. The Cindy and Anessa both needed three to four wears before they felt broken in, and the break-in period with rigid premium denim at this rise height is genuinely uncomfortable. Paige petite jeans are the best-feeling denim I have tested for petite frames, particularly the Hoxton Skinny with its Transcend fabric. The proportional grading is genuine, the knee placement is correct, and the durability after eight weeks of hard wear has been excellent. But the limited style selection, the half-size-small waist sizing, and the steep price make these a targeted purchase rather than a brand I would recommend for building out a full petite denim wardrobe.
