The Paige Anessa is a $230 wide-leg jean, and in petite, it gets some things very right and one thing frustratingly wrong.
I am 5’2″, 120 pounds, size 4/27, and I wore the Paige Anessa petite wide leg for five weeks. This is Paige’s widest petite silhouette and one of the few premium wide-leg jeans available in genuine petite proportions. If you are exploring petite wide-leg options across brands, my Petite Wide Leg Jeans compares several pairs side by side, and the Best Jeans For Petite Women hub has the full petite denim lineup.
Measurements and fit details
Rise: 12 inches. Inseam: 26 inches. Leg opening: 22 inches. Fabric: 100% cotton, approximately 12 ounces. The 26-inch inseam is one of the shorter petite wide-leg options I have found, and on my frame, it hit perfectly at the ankle bone with flat loafers. No dragging, no stacking. The heavy cotton held the wide-leg shape impressively, with clean drape rather than the limp sag you get from lighter fabrics.
The 22-inch leg opening is wide but not extreme. On my frame, it created a dramatic silhouette without overwhelming my proportions. The fabric’s weight helped it fall straight rather than billowing, which is critical for petite women because billowing wide legs add visual width without the height to balance it. I ordered my usual 27, and it measured 26.5 inches flat at the waist, consistent with Paige’s tendency to run about half a size small. A 28 would have been more comfortable. After four washes on cold, the cotton shrank minimally (about a quarter inch at the waist and inseam).
The rise problem
The 12-inch rise is the Anessa’s biggest flaw on my frame. At 5’2″ with a proportionally short torso, 12 inches puts the waistband at my lower ribcage. Standing, this creates a striking long-leg silhouette. Sitting, the rigid 100% cotton waistband presses into my diaphragm and lower ribs. After three hours at my desk, I found myself unbuttoning the top button for relief, which then caused the waistband to fold over.
If Paige offered the Anessa petite with a 10.5 or 11-inch rise, it would be one of the best petite jeans I have ever tested. The inseam, leg opening, and fabric are all excellent. But I cannot recommend a jean that causes discomfort every time I sit down. Petite women with longer torsos (even at the same height) may not have this issue. My torso is notably short even for 5’2″, so your experience may differ. You can find the Anessa petite at Paige Anessa Petite Wide Leg Jeans on Amazon.
Fabric and durability
The 100% cotton, 12-ounce denim is the Anessa’s strongest feature. After five weeks of regular wear and four washes, the fabric developed beautiful character. Subtle creasing at the hip, a slight softening at the knee, and the rigid structure that holds the wide-leg shape barely changed. Premium heavy cotton ages in a way that stretch blends simply cannot replicate. The dark indigo wash lost about half a shade evenly, with no streaking. There is zero pilling and the seams show no signs of stress.
The honest negative
Beyond the rise issue, the Anessa petite has limited wash options. Paige offers it in two washes in petite versus six in regular length. At $230, petite shoppers deserve the same range. The break-in period was also rough: three full days of stiff, unyielding denim before the cotton started to soften. Those first wears with the 12-inch rigid rise were genuinely uncomfortable.
The verdict
The Paige Anessa petite is a beautifully constructed wide-leg jean with a 26-inch inseam that works at 5’2″ without alteration. The heavy cotton fabric holds its shape, ages well, and drapes cleanly. But the 12-inch rise limits this to petite women with longer torsos or those willing to tolerate waistband pressure when sitting. If Paige ever brings this rise down to 11 inches, it would be my top petite wide-leg pick. As it stands, it is a conditional recommendation: try before you buy, and sit down in the fitting room before deciding.

FAQ
What is the inseam on the Paige Anessa petite?
26 inches on the pair I tested. This hit at my ankle bone at 5’2″ with flat shoes, requiring no alteration.
Does the Paige Anessa petite run true to size?
It runs about half a size small at the waist, consistent with Paige’s other styles. Size up one if you are between sizes.
Is the Paige Anessa good for short women?
The inseam and leg opening are excellent for petite frames. The 12-inch rise is the concern. If you have a longer torso relative to your height, it can work well. If your torso is short, the rise will likely cause discomfort when seated.
