The Rugged Wear line is Wrangler’s outdoor-and-workwear cousin to the Cowboy Cut — heavier denim, roomier through the seat and thigh, and a true straight-leg cut sized to wear over work boots. This is the jean a lot of farmers, contractors, and tradesmen actually buy because they hold up to real abuse and they’re cheap enough to replace when they don’t.
The denim is genuinely thicker than the Authentics — closer to the weight of the Cowboy Cut, but in a relaxed silhouette. The seat is forgiving, the thigh has room to move, and the leg opening fits over work boots without binding. Sizing runs slightly large; consider sizing down one in the waist if you’re between.
