Description
Old Navy’s Classic Jean Jacket is the cheapest legitimate trucker on this list — $50 for a hip-length jean jacket with a V-yoke, snap placket, and two chest pockets. It’s the entry-level test pair if you’ve never owned a denim jacket and aren’t sure if the silhouette works for you, or the disposable second-jacket if you want to wreck one without grief.
Honest tradeoffs at this price: the denim is light. Noticeably lighter and softer than Levi’s or Wrangler — they will not last 10 years, the wash will fade quickly, and the snaps will eventually loosen. But the silhouette is correct (hip-length, proper V-yoke, real chest pockets) and the fit is consistent across sizes. Sizing runs slightly large; size down one if you’re between. The medium wash is acceptable but reads cheaper than the Gap Icon at $20 more.
Why we recommend it: The $50 starter trucker. Cheap enough to test the silhouette without commitment. Don’t expect it to last forever.
