The Vintage Slim is Gap’s answer to the Madewell Perfect Vintage — a rigid-ish cotton denim cut in a slim-straight silhouette with vintage-inspired washes. Tall version measures 34 inches verified, 11-inch rise, 13-inch leg opening. On my 5’11” frame, these hit at the ankle bone in the intended cropped-slim silhouette.
Fabric is 99% cotton with 1% elastane — minimal stretch, which means they hold their shape beautifully but won’t move with you the way a stretchier jean will. I wear a size 28 and find the waist runs slightly small in this cut; consider sizing up if you’re between. The vintage wash I tested has authentic-feeling fades and a slightly distressed hem. Honest negatives: minimal stretch means uncomfortable for long drives or desk days. The “vintage” wash variety photographs inconsistently online — order with intent to return if the color matters.
Why we recommend it: Gap’s premium-feeling tall slim. Closer to Madewell’s fabric quality at Gap’s price point. The slim that actually holds its shape.
