Levi’s 724 in short comes with a 28-inch inseam, which was on the long side for my 5’2″ frame. The zipper fly worked well with the high rise, providing a smooth front from waistband to crotch seam. The denim is slightly rigid, and the zipper closure contributed to a clean, structured look.

My issue was not the fly type but the inseam. At 28 inches, Levi’s “short” is still not short enough for many petite women. The zipper fly itself was well-constructed and comfortable. At $70-$80, the price is reasonable if you are willing to hem.

If you never tuck your shirts and prefer the vintage aesthetic of a button fly, there is no reason to avoid it. The zipper advantage is specific to fitted styling and tucked tops on petite frames, and even then, the difference is subtle rather than dramatic.
