Levi’s Petite 311 Shaping Skinny

The stretch blend (80% cotton, 17% polyester, 3% elastane) is stretchier than Madewell or Citizens, which makes these more comfortable but less structured.
The shaping panel does its job, providing a smooth front profile without feeling restrictive. The mid-rise is a nice option for petites who find high-rise skinnies uncomfortably high. At 9.5 inches, this sits just above the belly button on my 5’2″ frame.

The high stretch content means these need a wash-and-dry reset every two to three wears. The knees bag noticeably by the end of a full day. But the ultra-high stretch content (85% cotton, 13% polyester, 2% elastane) means significant knee bagging by mid-morning and a waist that stretches a full inch within a few hours.

The knee-bag problem and how to manage it
Knee bagging is the nemesis of skinny jeans. The constant bending and straightening of the knee stretches the fabric at that point, creating pouches that make the skinny shape look sloppy. Here is what I have learned about managing it.
Higher cotton content = less bagging. Every pair I tested confirmed this. Citizens (92% cotton) bagged the least. Old Navy (85% cotton) bagged the most. The correlation is nearly perfect. If knee bagging bothers you, prioritize cotton content over comfort.
Cold wash and hang dry after every three to four wears. Heat from the dryer can permanently relax elastane fibers. Cold washing preserves the stretch recovery. Hang drying avoids the heat damage. This routine kept even the stretchier pairs in my testing within acceptable shape.
Avoid sitting cross-legged. Cross-legged sitting puts extra stress on the knee area. If you sit at a desk all day (like I do), this is relevant. Feet flat on the floor reduces knee stress.
